After experiencing oral surgery treatment firsthand, Dr. Joshua Deuel is grateful for every opportunity to relieve patients of their pain and provide life-changing care.
About Dr. Deuel
From Dowagiac, Michigan, Dr. Deuel was inspired to become an oral surgeon after his own surgical experiences of undergoing wisdom teeth removal and having a cyst removed from his jaw. After completing his training, Dr. Deuel wanted to join a well-rounded practice that offered the full scope of oral and maxillofacial procedures. He attended dental school with Dr. Long, who invited him to visit Oral & Facial Surgeons of Illinois. After meeting the team, he knew this practice was the right fit and joined in May 2022.
Dr. Deuel approaches patient care with transparency and understanding. To help his patients feel comfortable, he takes the time to thoroughly discuss treatment options and offers sedation to significantly reduce or eliminate anxiety. He enjoys performing surgery to correct large overbites or underbites and helping his patients achieve a new sense of self-confidence. He finds it very rewarding to help people who have congenital facial problems and relieve them of their pain.
Education & Residency
Dr. Deuel studied biochemistry at Albion College and graduated in 2012. He earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree from the University of Michigan School of Dentistry in 2016 and completed his oral and maxillofacial surgery residency at Christiana Care Health System in 2020.
Certifications & Memberships
Dr. Deuel is board-certified by the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (ABOMS) and maintains certification in Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS). He is a member of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons (AAOMS) and the American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine (AADSM).
Hobbies & Interests
Dr. Deuel enjoys golfing, playing chess, reading, and traveling.
